Cookies Policy

Last updated: 11 September 2026

This Cookies Policy explains how MD Imprint / Lasting Imprint with MD (“we”, “us”, or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on md-imprint.com.

It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites may store on your device when you visit them.

They can be used for purposes such as enabling website functionality, remembering preferences, maintaining security, understanding how a website is used and, where permitted, measuring marketing activity.

Websites may also use related technologies, including browser storage, tags, pixels and similar technical mechanisms. For simplicity, this policy explains these technologies together where appropriate.

2. How We Use Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website uses different technologies depending on their purpose and, where required, your consent choices.

We distinguish between:

  • necessary functionality and security technologies, which may operate without consent where required for the website or a user-requested service;
  • analytics technologies, which are activated where the appropriate analytics consent has been provided;
  • marketing technologies, which are activated only where marketing consent has been provided.

Before you make a choice in our consent banner, optional analytics and marketing storage is denied.

3. What Happens Before You Make a Consent Choice?

Before you accept or reject optional technologies, the website operates with non-essential analytics and marketing storage disabled.

At this stage:

  • the first-party NEXT_LOCALE cookie may be used to remember your selected website language;
  • Google Tag Manager may load in order to manage consent settings and trigger technologies according to those settings;
  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4) may send limited cookieless measurement signals (“pings”) to Google while analytics and advertising storage remain denied;
  • Microsoft Clarity is not activated;
  • Meta Pixel is not activated;
  • the embedded EmailOctopus newsletter form may connect to EmailOctopus infrastructure in order to display and operate;
  • Google reCAPTCHA, provided as part of the EmailOctopus form, may load for security and anti-spam purposes;
  • resources associated with Google Fonts may be requested by the EmailOctopus form stylesheet.

According to the current technical configuration of our website, optional analytics and marketing cookies are not set before the relevant consent is provided.

4. Necessary Cookie – NEXT_LOCALE

Our website uses a first-party cookie called NEXT_LOCALE.

Purpose: to remember the language selected by the visitor and display the appropriate language version of the website.

Category: Necessary / Functional.

Because this cookie remembers a website preference actively selected by the visitor and supports the requested website functionality, it may be used without consent for optional analytics or marketing cookies.

5. Google Tag Manager

We use Google Tag Manager (GTM) to manage technologies and tags used on our website.

GTM itself is a tag-management system. In our implementation, it is not used to set analytics or marketing cookies itself.

It may load before you make a consent choice so that the website can establish and manage the appropriate consent state.

Before consent is provided, GTM operates with optional analytics and marketing storage denied and does not activate Microsoft Clarity or Meta Pixel.

6. Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use our website and to measure website performance.

Before you make a consent choice, or where analytics consent has not been provided, GA4 operates in a restricted consent mode. In this state, it may send cookieless measurement signals (“pings”) to Google without setting analytics cookies on your device.

If you provide consent for analytics technologies, Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies to provide fuller analytics information about website usage.

This may include information about:

  • pages visited;
  • interactions with the website;
  • browser and device information;
  • approximate geographic information;
  • referring source;
  • general website usage and performance.

You can refuse analytics consent without losing access to the core functionality of our website.

7. Microsoft Clarity

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with our website and to help improve usability and user experience.

Clarity may collect information relating to website interactions, such as:

  • clicks;
  • scrolling;
  • navigation patterns;
  • interaction with website elements;
  • session and device information.

Microsoft Clarity is not activated before analytics consent is provided.

It is activated only when you consent to analytics technologies through our consent controls.

If analytics consent is refused, Clarity remains inactive.

8. Meta Pixel

We use Meta Pixel to measure and understand the effectiveness of marketing activity and certain interactions with our website.

Meta Pixel may process information about visits and actions on the website and may allow those interactions to be measured in connection with Meta's advertising services.

Meta Pixel is not activated before marketing consent is provided.

It is activated only when you consent to marketing technologies.

If marketing consent is refused, Meta Pixel remains inactive.

9. EmailOctopus

We use EmailOctopus to provide and manage the sign-up form for our newsletter, The Quiet Letter.

Because the EmailOctopus form is embedded in our website, your browser may connect to EmailOctopus infrastructure when the form is displayed.

These connections are required to load and operate the embedded newsletter form and process subscription requests.

Submitting the form is voluntary. If you subscribe, information associated with your subscription is processed as described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Google reCAPTCHA

The embedded EmailOctopus newsletter form uses Google reCAPTCHA to protect against spam, abuse and automated submissions.

Because reCAPTCHA is delivered together with the embedded EmailOctopus form, it may load before you make a choice regarding optional analytics or marketing technologies.

reCAPTCHA may process technical information such as your IP address, browser or device information and interaction information in order to assess whether activity is legitimate.

It may also use cookies or similar technologies as part of its security functionality.

We use reCAPTCHA for security and anti-spam purposes, not for our own advertising or marketing purposes.

11. Google Fonts

Our own website fonts are hosted locally where applicable.

However, the stylesheet associated with the embedded EmailOctopus form may request resources from Google Fonts, including Google's font infrastructure.

This means that when the form is displayed, your browser may connect to Google services to retrieve font-related resources.

Such requests may involve the transmission of technical information such as your IP address and browser information.

These requests originate from the functionality associated with the embedded EmailOctopus form and may occur before you make a choice regarding optional analytics or marketing technologies.

12. Consent Categories

Our consent system distinguishes between different categories of technologies.

Before a consent decision / Necessary functionality:

Necessary website functionality remains available. NEXT_LOCALE may remember the selected language. GTM may manage the consent state. GA4 may send restricted cookieless signals. Embedded EmailOctopus functionality, reCAPTCHA and associated Google Fonts resources may load where required for the newsletter form.

Analytics consent:

If you consent to analytics technologies, fuller Google Analytics functionality may operate and Microsoft Clarity is activated.

Marketing consent:

If you consent to marketing technologies, Meta Pixel is activated.

Marketing consent is separate from analytics consent. You do not need to accept marketing technologies in order to use the core website.

13. Your Choices

When you visit our website, you can use the consent controls to decide whether optional analytics and marketing technologies may be used.

Depending on the options presented in the consent banner, you may:

  • accept optional technologies;
  • reject optional technologies;
  • manage individual categories of consent.

Rejecting optional analytics or marketing technologies does not prevent you from accessing the main content of the website.

Necessary technologies may continue to operate where required for website functionality, security or a service you have requested.

14. Changing or Withdrawing Your Consent

Where processing is based on consent, you can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the cookie or consent settings available on our website.

Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that took place before consent was withdrawn.

Changing your consent may prevent the relevant analytics or marketing technologies from operating in future visits or interactions.

15. Third-Party Technologies

Some technologies used on our website are provided by third parties, including:

  • Google
  • Microsoft
  • Meta
  • EmailOctopus

These providers may process information in accordance with their own privacy policies and terms.

Further information about how personal information is processed through these services is provided in our Privacy Policy.

16. Changes to This Cookies Policy

We may update this Cookies Policy if the technologies used on our website, our consent configuration or applicable legal requirements change.

The current version will be published on this website with the date of the latest update.
